FAQ

What happens if I submit the death certificate abroad without an apostille?

The insurance claim, the pension or the inheritance stalls: for that country, the death hasn't been proven. The apostille is what makes it count.

Is the apostille on my death certificate valid abroad?

Yes: with the apostille, your death certificate is fully valid in Hague Convention countries.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $35, covers the full online handling; official fees and shipping are extra.

What is it usually requested for?

For estates, collecting insurance or pensions, and inheritance procedures abroad.

Do I have to go anywhere?

No. Since June 11, 2026, legalization and apostille of SAREN documents are processed 100% online, with no appointment and no consulate.

About this procedure

Did you know you can do this procedure yourself on the SAREN online system? It's absolutely true, and doing it on your own costs less. We're a service company: we don't charge you for access to the system, which is public, but for taking the procedure off your plate. We do it for you, with no mistakes that make you lose your payment, while you carry on at work, at the office or at home. And we send the document wherever you are, in Venezuela or abroad.

An apostilled death certificate is often required abroad for sensitive matters: claiming an inheritance, collecting a survivor's pension, making a life insurance claim, closing accounts or proving a death before foreign authorities. The apostille is what gives the certificate international validity under the Hague Convention. Since June 2026 the procedure is fully digital: the death certificate joined the list of one hundred fifty-three documents that SAREN legalizes and apostilles online, with no trips and no government windows. There are two steps, legalization (official verification of the signature on the document) and then the apostille, and a single data entry error is enough for the system to reject the application. We understand this is a hard time, so we handle it for you with care: we check the certificate, file the procedure on the SAREN online system, follow both steps and hand you the finished apostille. And if there's an estate to settle in Venezuela with assets of the deceased, we can help you with that too.
