FAQ
What happens if I apply for residency or a spouse visa with a marriage certificate that isn't apostilled?
They reject it: for that country, your marriage hasn't been proven. The apostille is what makes your certificate valid abroad.
Is the apostille on my marriage certificate valid for procedures abroad?
Yes: with the apostille, your marriage certificate is valid before authorities in Hague Convention countries.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $35, covers the full online handling; official fees and shipping are extra.
What is it usually requested for?
For residency, visas, marital property matters or recognition of the marriage abroad.
Do I have to go anywhere?
No. Since June 11, 2026, legalization and apostille of SAREN documents are processed 100% online, with no appointment and no consulate.
About this procedure
Did you know you can do this procedure yourself on the SAREN online system? It's absolutely true, and doing it on your own costs less. We're a service company: we don't charge you for access to the system, which is public, but for taking the procedure off your plate. We do it for you, with no mistakes that make you lose your payment, while you carry on at work, at the office or at home. And we send the document wherever you are, in Venezuela or abroad.
When you need your marriage recognized in another country, for family reunification, a spouse visa, residency or citizenship, you need your marriage certificate apostilled; that's what gives it international validity under the Hague Convention. Since June 2026 the procedure is fully digital: the marriage certificate is one of the one hundred fifty-three documents that SAREN legalizes and apostilles online, with no lines and no government windows. There are two steps, legalization (official verification of the signature on the document) and then the apostille, and the system is strict: any detail that doesn't match leads to rejection and you lose your payment. We take care of it for you: we check that the certificate is correct, file the procedure on the SAREN online system, follow both steps and hand you the finished electronic apostille. If you also need to apostille your birth certificate or your children's for the same immigration process, we put together the full package. And if the destination requires a translation, we coordinate it.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- Since June 11, 2026, SAREN documents, both civil registry and commercial registry records, are apostilled 100% online through the SAREN online system; there is no longer in-person service for them.
- There are two steps. First the legalization, then the apostille.
- Since it's a 100% online procedure, you don't need to sign anything in person. We do it all for you and send it to you.
- Timing depends on the SAREN system's response, which we don't control, but we manage it so it comes out as fast as possible and we keep you posted.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
