FAQ

What happens if I don't file my fe de vida on time?

Your pension or insurance gets suspended. As far as they're concerned, someone who doesn't file it may have died. It's a simple piece of paper that keeps an income coming in.

What does the fe de vida prove?

It certifies that the person is alive, something pension systems and insurers require, especially from abroad.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $30, covers the handling; official fees, if any, and the apostille are separate.

Does it work abroad?

It needs an apostille; we handle that separately.

Does the person have to go in?

Yes, they're the one proving they're alive; we coordinate the time and place.

About this procedure

The proof-of-life certificate (fe de vida, also called constancia de supervivencia) officially certifies that a person is alive as of a given date, and it's essential for collecting pensions and retirement benefits, especially for Venezuelan retirees living abroad, whose pension systems, here or there, require them to prove periodically that they're still alive so their payments aren't suspended. It's a small procedure but a critical one: if you don't file it on time, your pension gets cut off. The hard part for anyone living abroad is doing it remotely. We handle it for you: we get the fe de vida from the relevant authority and, if you need it for an institution abroad, we apostille it and send it wherever you are. That way, the retiree doesn't lose their payment: they only show up to prove they're alive, and we take care of the rest.
