FAQ

What happens if I try to get married abroad without a single-status certificate?

The civil registry there won't marry you: it needs proof that you have no existing marriage. Without it, the wedding gets postponed.

Why do they ask for a single-status certificate?

To marry abroad, or for procedures that require proof that you have no existing marriage.

How much does it cost?

Professional fees from $35 cover the handling; official registry fees, if any, and the apostille are separate.

Is it valid abroad?

It has to be apostilled; we do that as a separate service.

Does it expire?

Many countries ask for a recent one; get it close to the date you'll use it.

About this procedure

A single-status certificate is the document that certifies a person isn't married, and it's requested all the time to marry abroad or for immigration procedures: almost every country requires you to prove you're free to marry before letting you marry there. It's a simple document, but it can be hard to get because of the lines and the requirements, and it almost always has to be apostilled (Hague Convention certification for use abroad) afterward to be valid abroad. We handle it for you with the right authority, check that it comes out with the correct details, and if you'll use it abroad, we also get it apostilled through the right channel, as a separate service. We send it wherever you are, in Venezuela or abroad. It's the classic small piece of paper that holds up a big plan, so it's better handled by someone who knows how.
