FAQ
What happens if I don't have safety delegates?
You can't set up the committee, and without a committee your entire workplace safety system falls apart. They're the first link in the LOPCYMAT chain.
How many delegates do I need?
It depends on your headcount: from 1 to 10, one; from 11 to 50, two; from 51 to 250, three; from 251, four, and larger companies may add one for every 500 employees or fraction.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $75, covers organizing the election and registering the delegates; it's adjusted to the number of employees.
Is it mandatory?
Yes, LOPCYMAT requires it.
Can I set up the committee without them?
No: the delegates are the foundation of the committee.
About this procedure
Safety delegates are elected employees who represent their coworkers on everything related to workplace safety and health. LOPCYMAT makes them mandatory and sets how many you need based on company size: from one to ten employees, one delegate; from eleven to fifty, two; from fifty-one to two hundred fifty, three; from two hundred fifty-one, four, and larger companies may add one for every five hundred employees or fraction. It's neither optional nor symbolic: without properly elected and registered delegates, the committee can't be set up correctly and the safety program can't be signed as the law requires.
The delicate part is that the election has to follow the right formalities. It's a process with its own minutes, its own call to vote and its own registration with INPSASEL, and it's exactly what companies improvise or leave half-done. A poorly run election or unregistered delegates is a crack in your entire prevention structure, and that crack shows precisely when an inspection arrives, or when an accident has to be investigated and the paperwork turns up incomplete.
We organize the entire process: we calculate how many delegates you need, coordinate the election and give it legal form, draw up the minutes and register the safety delegates with INPSASEL. The price starts at $75 and is adjusted to the number of employees. A lawyer reviews your case and confirms it with you before we start, no strings attached.
