FAQ
What happens if my child was born abroad and I don't register them here?
For Venezuela, they're not Venezuelan and have no birth record: no cédula, no Venezuelan passport, no rights here. Recording the certificate is what gives them their Venezuelan nationality by birth.
How do I register my child born abroad here?
We record their foreign certificate in the Venezuelan Registro Civil.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $55, covers the review and handling of the recording; official registry fees and the translation, if needed, are extra.
Is having the foreign certificate enough?
No. It must come apostilled or legalized and translated; we coordinate that.
Can it be done from abroad?
Partly, with a power of attorney; we tell you what can be moved forward from abroad.
About this procedure
If you had a child abroad and you're Venezuelan, that child has the right to Venezuelan nationality, but to have papers here, like a cédula (Venezuelan national ID card), a Venezuelan passport and everything else, their foreign birth certificate has to be recorded in the Venezuelan Registro Civil. Having the birth certificate from the country where they were born isn't enough: you have to bring it in valid form and have it transcribed into the Venezuelan system. The key requirement is that the foreign certificate comes with an apostille (Hague Convention certification for use abroad) or a legalization (official verification of a signature or document) and, if it's in another language, a translation by a Venezuelan intérprete público (sworn translator authorized in Venezuela); without that, it can't be recorded. We handle the whole process: we tell you how to bring a valid certificate, handle the apostille or legalization and the translation if needed, and record it at the Registro Civil. That way, your child born abroad is fully registered as Venezuelan. One team for the paperwork in both countries.
Legal framework and important notes

- Apostille and translation are separate services that we also handle
