FAQ

What happens if I legalize it and use it after the 90 days?

It's no longer valid and you have to get it again. Criminal record certificates expire after 90 days; that's why it pays to legalize and apostille them right away, close to the date you'll use them.

Why legalize my criminal record certificate?

To make it valid for immigration or work procedures, almost always abroad.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $35, covers the full handling; official fees and shipping are separate.

Is legalization the same as an apostille?

No: legalization is the step before, and the MPPRE apostille is what makes it valid abroad; we do both.

Do I have to go in person?

No, it's 100% digital; we handle it for you.

About this procedure

The criminal record certificate is one of the documents Venezuelans abroad request most, because almost every visa, residency, immigration status or job procedure abroad requires it. It has its own route: it's issued by the Ministerio de Relaciones Interiores, Justicia y Paz (Venezuela's Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace), usually quickly and online, and for it to be valid outside the country it has to be apostilled through the electronic system of the MPPRE (Venezuela's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issues apostilles). We handle the entire process: we obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet and process the electronic apostille, which is exactly where people get stuck because the system is unstable. A key fact: the certificate is only valid for ninety days, so it's best to apostille it right away rather than leave it for last; that way it won't expire before you submit it. We deliver it ready to use abroad.
