FAQ
What happens if I try to enroll the child in school or request documents for them without the legalized ruling?
They ask what gives you the right, and you have no way to prove it. The legalized ruling is what proves you're their representative.
Why legalize the foster care placement or guardianship?
To prove you represent the minor before entities inside or outside the country.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $40, covers the legalization at the Registro Principal; official registry fees are separate, and the apostille is added if it's going abroad.
Do I need it apostilled?
Only if you use it outside Venezuela; we guide you.
Does the ruling have to be final?
Yes, with its enforcement order; we check that for you beforehand.
About this procedure
Foster care placement and guardianship are protective measures, ordered by the child protection court, that entrust the care and representation of a child or teenager to someone other than their parents. They need to be legalized so the person holding the placement or guardianship can act for the minor with schools, health services, banks and registries, and to travel with the child. Outside the court that issued it, the ruling needs legalization by the Registro Principal. We handle that legalization of the ruling you've already obtained, at the Registro Principal or through the online system of SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service), and if you need it abroad we process the apostille. If you don't have the measure yet and need to request it, we handle that process before the child protection court as a separate service.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- The best interests of the child always come first.
- Contested matters are decided by the child protection court; here we legalize the resulting document.
- If the details don't match the system, the procedure is rejected.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
