FAQ
What happens if I present a notarially authenticated contract or sale document abroad without legalizing it?
The Venezuelan notary's signature carries no weight there until it's legalized and apostilled. Your deal is left hanging.
Do you legalize any contract?
We legalize contracts already signed before a notary; drafting and signing them is a separate service.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $35, covers the legalization at the Registro Principal and the apostille; official registry fees are separate.
Why is it legalized?
So the contract or sale is valid before authorities abroad.
Do I need the original?
Yes, in good condition.
About this procedure
This service covers the legalization of contracts and sale documents already signed before a Notaría Pública (government notary office): sales of movable property, service agreements, assignments and the like. Once signed and authenticated, to be valid outside the country or before certain agencies it usually needs legalization by the Registro Principal and an apostille (Hague Convention certification for use abroad). We start from your contract, already authenticated at the notary office: we check that it was properly signed and executed, handle its legalization at the Registro Principal or through the digital system of SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service), and, if you'll use it abroad, we process the apostille with the MPPRE (Venezuela's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issues apostilles). If what you need is to draft the contract and sign it before the notary from scratch, that's a notary service we also offer; and if it's the sale of real estate, that goes through the Registro Inmobiliario (Real Estate Registry), not through here. Tell us about your case and we'll point you to the right service.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- We start from the document already signed before the notary.
- A digital legalization is just as valid as one with a wet-ink stamp; check what the receiving institution requires.
- If the data doesn't match the system, the application is rejected.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
