FAQ

What happens if I present my honorary doctorate abroad without legalizing it?

It's a decorative diploma. Without the academic chain and the apostille, no foreign institution will recognize it.

Is the honorary doctorate legalized through SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service)?

No. Academic documents go through the GTU and the MPPRE, not through SAREN.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $45, covers handling the academic process; official fees and shipping are separate.

Do I need the original?

Yes, in good condition; we use it for the legalization.

Does it end up apostilled?

Yes, we take it all the way to the MPPRE apostille so it's valid internationally.

About this procedure

An honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) is an honorary distinction a university grants for exceptional merit. To make it valid internationally, for example to list it on your résumé or use it in academic procedures outside the country, it's legalized through the academic route, with validation by the relevant university authority, and apostilled by the MPPRE through its online system. Since it's a less common document, the required documents and the certification from the university that granted it need careful handling. We run the entire process for you: we review the document and the issuing university, handle the validation, process the apostille (Hague Convention certification for use abroad) and hand it to you ready to use wherever you need it.
