FAQ
What happens if I use the justificativo in another procedure or country without legalizing it?
It gets sent back: your witnesses' statement before a notary is only valid abroad once it's legalized and apostilled.
What does legalizing a justificativo mean?
Preparing the statement already taken before a notary so it's valid in another procedure or country.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $30, covers legalization at the Registro Principal and the apostille; official fees are separate.
Do you prepare the justificativo?
Here we legalize one that's already been taken; preparing it is a separate notary service.
Do I need the original?
Yes, in good condition; we use it for the legalization.
About this procedure
A justificativo is a statement by witnesses, taken before a Notaría Pública (government notary office), used to prove facts such as a unión estable de hecho (de facto union), financial dependency, residence or any other situation you need to prove. Once it's signed, to be valid outside the country or before certain agencies it usually needs legalization by the Registro Principal and an apostille. We start from your already-notarized justificativo: we check that it was properly taken, handle its legalization at the Registro Principal or through the online system of SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service), and if you'll use it abroad we process the apostille at the MPPRE (Venezuela's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which issues apostilles). It's a document widely used by Venezuelans abroad for pensions, family reunification and immigration procedures. If you don't have the justificativo yet, that's a notary service we also offer.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- We start from the document already signed before the notary.
- A digital legalization is just as valid as one with a wet-ink stamp; check what the receiving institution requires.
- If the data doesn't match the system, the procedure is rejected.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
