FAQ

What happens if I try to practice abroad with an unlegalized degree?

They won't let you: a Venezuelan degree without the GTU and MPPRE chain isn't valid in another country. It's the first step of your career abroad.

Why legalize my university degree?

To practice or have your degree recognized outside the country.

How much does it cost?

Professional fees from $40 cover the GTU process and the MPPRE apostille; official fees and shipping are separate.

Does this go through SAREN?

No: academic documents go through the GTU and the MPPRE, by appointment.

Do I need the original?

Yes, in good condition; if it's from a public university, it goes through the GTU first.

About this procedure

Your university degree has to be legalized (official verification of a signature or document) before it can be used outside the country, and the right route doesn't go through SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service) but through the GTU (Gestión de Trámites Universitarios), the Ministry of University Education's system that validates the document nationwide. If your university is public, there's a prior certification step with the ministry. Once the GTU validates it, the degree is apostilled at the MPPRE through its electronic legalization and apostille system (Sistema de Legalización y Apostilla Electrónica), and with that it's valid in more than 120 countries that are parties to the Hague Convention. We handle the whole process for you: we tell you which documents to gather, handle the GTU step, process the apostille and deliver your degree ready for you to emigrate, work or study abroad. Many people get confused and waste their time going to SAREN; we take you down the right route from day one.
