FAQ
What happens if I leave the person unregistered?
They don't legally exist: without a birth certificate there's no cédula, no school, no formal job and no inheritance. Every year that goes by, registration gets harder, not easier.
Can I register a birth after the deadline?
Yes: late registration is exactly for that, when the ordinary deadline has passed.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $45, covers preparing the file and handling the procedure; official registry fees, if any, are separate.
Is it more complicated than a regular registration?
It requires additional documents and witnesses; we tell you exactly which ones.
Does it work for adults?
Yes, even for older people who were never registered.
About this procedure
If the ninety-day deadline has passed and the birth was never registered, don't worry: it can still be registered, just through the late registration route, which has additional requirements. This happens to a lot of people, from babies who weren't registered at the time to adults who discover they never had a birth certificate and, because of that, can't get a cédula (Venezuelan national ID card) or a passport, enroll in school or collect benefits. It's a distressing situation because, without a birth certificate, the person doesn't exist in the eyes of the government. Late registration requires gathering proof of the birth, witnesses and sometimes reports, depending on how much time has passed. We put the complete file together for you: we gather the required documents, prepare the necessary statements, handle the registration at the Registro Civil (Civil Registry: births, marriages, deaths) and get the birth certificate. We bring people who were never registered out of legal limbo.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley Orgánica de Registro Civil (Organic Civil Registry Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code)
- Once the 90-day ordinary deadline has passed, the birth is registered through late registration, with additional requirements (evidence, witnesses, reports depending on how much time has passed)
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
