FAQ

What happens if I don't register my child on time?

It becomes a late registration, with more documents and witnesses, and in the meantime your child has no birth certificate, no cédula and no access to anything. Registering early saves you all that.

How do I register my child's birth?

With the certificate of live birth and the parents' details, we get the birth certificate recorded.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $40, covers the full handling; birth registration itself has no official fee.

Can I get my child's cédula with this?

Once the birth certificate is ready, you apply for your child's cédula at SAIME (Venezuela's immigration and ID agency) when the time comes.

Do both parents have to go?

It depends on the case, especially if they're not married; we tell you who needs to appear.

About this procedure

The birth record is a person's first and most important document: without it, your child doesn't legally exist and can't get a cédula (Venezuelan national ID card), enroll in school or access many services. That's why it has to be done right and on time. The law gives a ninety-day deadline from the birth to register it the ordinary way; after that, the procedure gets more complicated and becomes a late registration, with more requirements. There's also a valuable detail few people know: within those first ninety days, parents can change the name written on the medical certificate if they change their minds or there was a mistake. We handle the registration for you, check that the certificate of live birth and the details are correct so the record comes out error-free, and hand you the birth certificate. A detail written wrong on this record follows you for life, and fixing it later is a separate procedure, so we take care of it from the start.
