FAQ

Who has to register in the RTN?

Every tourism service provider, whether an individual or a company, in order to operate in Venezuela.

Is the RTN the same as the tourism license?

No. The RTN is the registration; the license is the permit to operate, and you have to be registered first.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee from $90 covers the full handling of the registration; MINTUR's official fee is separate.

Is it done online?

Yes, through the ministry's RTN Digital system, and we submit it for you.

Is there an option for entrepreneurs?

Yes. MINTUR has set special requirements for those registered in the national entrepreneurship registry; we review it in your case.

About this procedure

The Registro Turístico Nacional, the RTN, is the gateway to the formal tourism business in Venezuela. The Ley Orgánica de Turismo puts this registry in the hands of the Ministerio del Poder Popular para el Turismo and requires everyone who provides tourism services to register, whether a hotel, posada (guesthouse), camp, travel agency, tourist transport, restaurant or adventure tourism company. No RTN, no tourism license, and without a license you can't operate by the book.
Today the procedure runs through the ministry's RTN Digital system, but being online doesn't make it simple. Each type of provider has its own form, the file must be complete and correctly uploaded, and if MINTUR finds errors or omissions it sends the application back with a window to fix them. That's where most people lose weeks: an expired document, an outdated RIF (Venezuelan tax ID) or the wrong provider category.
We review your papers, choose the right provider category, put together the file, submit your application in RTN Digital and follow up until MINTUR issues your registration certificate. If they flag anything, we fix it. The price starts at $90 and is adjusted to your type of provider. A lawyer reviews your situation and confirms with you before we start, no strings attached.
