Personal tax compliance certificate

Accounting service

The certificate SENIAT uses to state that you're up to date with your national taxes. You're asked for it in public bids and contracts. And if you're behind, we first get you in good standing (quoted separately) so they can issue it.

FAQ

What happens if I'm asked for the certificate and I'm behind?

They won't issue it, and you lose the bid or the contract while you catch up. Better to know today whether you're in good standing than to find out with the deadline looming.

What is it required for?

Mainly for public bids and contracts with the government.

How much does it cost?

The professional fee, from $45, covers handling the certificate if you're already in good standing; catching up is quoted separately based on what's pending, and we let you know beforehand.

Will they issue it if I'm behind?

No. You have to catch up first, and we take care of that for you.

What does the timing depend on?

On whether you're in good standing. If you are, 3 to 7 business days; if not, the catch-up comes first.

About this procedure

The tax compliance certificate (solvencia tributaria) is the document in which SENIAT certifies that you're up to date with your national tax obligations: that you have no income tax (ISLR) debts or pending returns. It's not a paper you need every day, but when you need it, you really need it: it's required to take part in public bids, to sign contracts with the government and for certain formal procedures where they have to verify that your record with the tax authorities is clean.
And here's the key point many people discover too late: SENIAT won't give you the certificate unless you're truly up to date. If you have an unfiled ISLR return, a pending period or a debt, that has to be sorted out first. That's why this service is more than requesting a piece of paper: we first review your tax situation and check whether anything is overdue, and if it is, we tell you clearly and bring you up to date; then we handle the issuance of the certificate.
The base price covers the process when you're already in good standing. If late returns turn up, catching up is quoted separately based on what's pending, and we tell you before charging anything. What we're selling is getting you ready for the deal you're after: without the certificate, you simply can't sign that bid or that contract.
