Vehicle sale document
It's the purchase and sale document that transfers ownership of a vehicle from the seller to the buyer, authenticated before a notary, who certifies that both signatures are genuine. It's the step before registering the vehicle in the new owner's name with the INTT.

What it costs and how to pay
There are two separate payments, and we want you to see them clearly.
Our fee: we do all the work for you.
The official notary fee. It goes straight to the agency, and we give you the exact amount, with its receipt, before you pay anything.
How you pay: You pay once, when we start. In dollars, in bolívares at the official BCV exchange rate, or with Cashea.
How is your investment calculated?
Your investment has two parts, and we break them down for you separately. Our base professional fee, from $55, for drafting the document and handling the transfer; if you're a dealer or move volume, our preferred partner rate applies, which we set based on how many vehicles you move
The official notary fee, which varies by the type and year of the vehicle, so a newer car or an SUV pays more than an old car. Official amounts are paid in bolívares at the official exchange rate of the BCV (Central Bank of Venezuela) on the day of the signing Your lawyer gives you the exact figure before you pay anything, no strings attached.
FAQ
What happens if I buy a car with just a paper signed between the two of us?
Without authentication, that paper has no fecha cierta (a legally certain date) and won't hold up against third parties. If the seller sells the car again or a debt on it turns up, you're left out in the cold.
Is the notary enough, or do I have to register it?
The car needs both steps: the notary authenticates the transfer and gives it fecha cierta, and the INTT is what puts it in your name. For movable property like machinery the notary would be enough, but a vehicle does get registered.
How much is the official fee?
It varies by the type and year of the vehicle; a new one or an SUV pays more. Our professional fee, from $55, is separate; we give you the full picture up front.
Do we both have to go to sign?
Yes, buyer and seller, in person, with their cédulas.
What if I'm a dealer or have a car lot?
We have a partner rate; tell us your volume. There's an option with express habilitación (a request for the notary office to act after hours or off-site).
About this procedure
The vehicle sale document is what makes a car transfer formal and secure: it puts in writing that the seller transfers ownership to the buyer, with the vehicle's exact details, the price and the terms, and the notary authenticates that both parties' signatures are genuine and that they signed of their own free will. That authenticated document is what you then take to the INTT to register the vehicle in the new owner's name. Doing it right avoids the classic headaches: details copied wrong that get the procedure rejected, sales that get disputed later, or a buyer who can't put the car in their name. We speak your car language: we review the registration certificate, any retention of title (reserva de dominio), the plate number, and the body and engine serial numbers, and we put the document together so it goes through without a hitch. A point for those who move volume: if you're a dealer, have a car lot, or buy and sell vehicles often, we have a preferred partner rate; tell us how many vehicles you move a month and we'll set up a plan that fits you. The buyer and the seller sign in person before the notary.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code)
- A key point. The official fee for this procedure isn't fixed; it depends on the type and year of the vehicle and can be high for new cars or SUVs, so we give you the complete figure before we start, with no surprises
- Remember that the buyer and seller sign in person before the notary with a valid cédula
- And if you buy and sell cars often, don't pay like an individual. Ask about the partner rate
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
