How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $25, covers the legalization at the Registro Principal; official registry fees are separate, and the apostille, if you need it, is added on.
Do I need it apostilled?

Can I handle it if I'm not an immediate family member?
It depends on what it will be used for; the lawyer will guide you.
About this procedure
The death certificate is essential to open the estate proceedings, collect insurance or survivor's pensions, and close the deceased's accounts. To be valid outside the registry that issued it, it must be legalized by the Registro Principal. We know this procedure comes at a difficult time, so we handle it for you from start to finish: we review the certificate, handle the legalization (official verification of a signature or document) at the Registro Principal or through the digital system of SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service), and hand it to you ready to use. If it's needed in another country, we also process the apostille (Hague Convention certification for use abroad).
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- Since 2026, the death certificate has been among the documents SAREN legalizes and apostilles digitally.
- The details in the system must match the physical document, or the procedure is rejected.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
