Legalization of a birth certificate
We legalize your birth certificate at the Registro Principal so it's fully valid, inside Venezuela or as the first step to apostille it and use it abroad. Since June 2026, SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service) has been issuing many records already legalized in digital format; we handle the whole procedure for you.

FAQ
What happens if I start the apostille without legalizing the certificate?
The system rejects it: legalization is the mandatory step before it. That's where most people lose their payment.
Is SAREN's digital legalization as valid as the wet-ink stamp?
Yes, the legalization sheet itself says so; we confirm which one the receiving institution requires.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $25, covers the legalization at the Registro Principal; official registry fees are separate, and the apostille is added if you're emigrating.
Does it work for emigrating?
Yes, it's the step before the apostille.
Can I legalize my minor child's birth certificate?
Yes, as their legal representative.
About this procedure
Your birth certificate is the base document for almost every personal procedure: cédula (Venezuelan national ID card), passport, marriage, inheritance, school enrollment and, above all, emigrating. For it to be valid outside the registry that issued it, it has to be legalized by the Registro Principal. We take care of it: we check that your certificate is correct, handle the legalization at the Registro Principal or through the SAREN online system, and deliver it to you ready to use. If your goal is to use it in another country, this legalization is the step before the apostille, which we can also handle for you. We work with the wet-ink stamp of the Registro Civil (Civil Registry: births, marriages, deaths) or the CNE (National Electoral Council, which runs the civil registry) when the receiving institution requires it, and we tell you upfront which version you need so you don't pay twice.
Legal framework and important notes
Ley de Registros y Notarías (Registries and Notaries Law) · Código Civil (Civil Code) · 1961 Hague Apostille Convention
- Since June 2026, the birth certificate is among the documents that are legalized and apostilled online through SAREN's portal.
- If the data in the system doesn't match the paper document, the legalization or apostille is rejected; that's why we review it first.
We guarantee our service, not what the agency decides. If something depends on them, we tell you clearly and in time.
