FAQ
What happens if I go to get married abroad with a certificate that isn't legalized or has expired?
The civil registry there rejects it and the wedding gets postponed. Many countries ask for it recent and apostilled.
Does it work for getting married in another country?
Yes, that's its most common use, usually apostilled.
How much does it cost?
The professional fee, from $25, covers the legalization at the Registro Principal; official registry fees are separate, and the apostille is added if it's going abroad.
Does it have an expiration date?
Many countries ask for a recent one; legalize it close to when you'll use it.
Where do I get the certificate?
We guide you based on your case.
About this procedure
The single-status certificate proves that you're not married, and it's requested mainly to get married in another country or for immigration and civil status procedures. To be valid outside the office that issued it, it has to be legalized by the Registro Principal. We review it, handle the legalization at the Registro Principal or through the online system of SAREN (Venezuela's registries and notaries service), and deliver it to you ready to use. If you're getting married abroad, you'll almost always be asked for it apostilled; we handle that step too. Watch the validity: many countries require it to be recent, so it's best to legalize it close to the date you'll use it.

- Single-status certificates have been among SAREN's digital-format documents since 2026.
- Check the validity period the destination country requires before you start.
